History 1500 - World History to 1500

Word of the Day: Auspicious - promising success; fortunate
             - I even spelled this one wrong until I looked it up

Today I was given an assignment to read "The Code of Hammurabi" and answer a few questions based on what I read. This document is a law code that is engraved on a diorite stela (similar to a tombstone) in the Louvre Museum.
I looked up the museum just for fun and the architecture is amazing! I wouldn't mind seeing this in person someday. It is located in France.

Hammurabi was the sixth king of the Amorite Dynasty of Old Babylon. These law codes were created for Mesopotamian civilization in ancient Middle East.

Its interesting to see the characteristics of a culture based on the laws created for them. It reminds me of the Law of Moses in the Bible. There is so much that can be interpreted about people through their government and organization.
